The state of Delaware requires a person who wants to practice psychology in the state to have a doctoral degree from a school accredited by the American Psychological Association. Along with the degree, a person must then pass a state licensing exam.

  • University of Delaware offers a four year program leading to either a Bachelor of Arts or a Bachelor of Science in Psychology degree. Both of these degrees are undergraduate studies. The Bachelor of Science degree is typically the degree of choice for those interested in furthering their education in the field of psychology by continuing on for a  Ph.D. Core courses in psychology are required for both paths, although the BA degree comprises more computer science and math courses.
  • University of Delaware also offers a doctoral degree resulting in a Ph.D. in Psychology. This degree requires another four to five years of school with a clinical internship. The university offers four different specializations to major in. Once completed a student is then ready to take the state of Delaware’s licensing exam and can become a practicing psychologist.
