Students can begin their practice in psychology studying for a certificate, bachelors, masters or doctoral degree. There are online programs available to those students that prefer to study online.
The average annual mean salary for graduates is $69,840 according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (2012). Psychology professionals and assistants can earn a decent living. These professionals work in clinical, counseling and education psychology.
Oregon contains online schools including Concordia University and Northwest Christian University. The online schools’ programs vary in course and credit requirements, depending on the degree type (bachelor’s, master’s, specialist or doctoral). To graduate with an under level degree, the student is required to have a minimum of twenty four credits in Child Psychology. Four of the credits may be special studies or credits as a teaching assistant. Twelve credits are required of upper level courses. The student must maintain a C- or above grade.
Students who want to attain a bachelor’s degree must have a minimum of fifty seven credits. They are also required to maintain at least a C+ grade. Their grade point average must be a 2.70 or higher in all required Psychology courses.
